Rutgers is the lead agent for one of the SRHR Partnerships (2016-2020) financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In the framework of this partnership, the Programme ‘Get Up Speak Out’ (GUSO), aimed at young people and sexuality, is carried out by a consortium including Rutgers, Aidsfonds. CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality, dance4life, IPPF and Simavi. The GUSO Consortium Team within Rutgers is responsible for the coordination of the programme.
What we offer:
We offer a challenging research assignment in a multidisciplinary programme team. The focus of this position is to operationalise the research agenda of the GUSO programme. The researcher executes several research projects for the duration of the programme until end 2020 and is responsible for the dissemination of results.
What we ask:
• You have a master degree in social, behavioural, health economics or other health sciences, and are skilled in (and have an interest for) conducting social scientific research.
• You are an experienced (3-5 years) and committed researcher who can work in an international context and works in an engaging and culturally sensitive manner.
• You are a strategic and analytical thinker.
• You are a results-oriented and flexible team player who is able to keep track of a varied programme portfolio (multiple countries, projects and/or partners).
• You are skilled in qualitative research methods. The quantitative methods you can apply when necessary.
• Experience in participatory research is an asset. You can work independently in research projects.
• You have good interpersonal skills, are a networker, and can motivate and persuade people.
• You are a skilled communicator in English.
• You are meticulous in your work and can work using a programmatic approach.
• If applying for the international position, you should be willing and able to travel to developing countries several times each year.
• You are flexible, creative, and tenacious.
It is an asset when:
• You have knowledge and experience relating to the field of sexual health and rights.
• Besides in English you are fluent in another language: for instance Dutch, French or Arabic.
• You have no problems writing (scientific) papers.
Terms of employment
We offer a challenging position in an international working environment with motivated and qualified colleagues. The position is until 31 December 2020. The Collective Labour Agreement for Mental Healthcare (CAO-GGZ) applies to this position. The salary, depending on knowledge and experience, amounts to a maximum of €3.894,= gross per month (FWG scale 55) based on a 36-hour week. Please note that only candidates in the possession of a Dutch working permit (or who can obtain one at short notice) are eligible to apply.
