Supporting Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality in Fragile States: Guinea, Lebanon and Sudan – Research Series

Posted by Share-Net NL on April 4, 2016 at 11:38 am

This brief summarizes a three-part research series produced by UN Women’s Fund for Gender Equality—a global gender equality fund which awards competitive grants and technical assistance to women-led civil society organizations around the world.

Focusing on grantee case studies in Guinea, Lebanon and Sudan, the series offers a more nuanced look at the real-time opportunities and barriers to women’s economic empowerment in three fragile contexts, including what is working, what is not and what is needed to help women realize greater empowerment, equality and inclusive development.

This Research Series Summary offers cross-cutting highlights from the research, including:

  • Key comparative findings from the FGE’s perceptions survey research, conducted in 2015 with over 1,200 rural, displaced and refugee women in Guinea, Lebanon and Sudan
  • A brief introduction to the FGE’s new programme-oriented framework for Women’s Economic Empowerment.
