The Generation Equality Forum (GEF) is a global process created by UN Women. It aims to celebrate achievements on women’s rights and gender equality since the Beijing Conference on Women 25+ years ago. The first of two forums took place in March 2021 in Mexico. The 2nd Generation Equality Forum will take place 30 June – 2 July in Paris (and mostly online).
WO=MEN Dutch Gender Platform invites their members and other civil society aiming for gender equality in the Netherlands to join an online consultation to share information about the Generation Equality Forum process and discuss opportunities to engage. WO=MEN is most directly engaged in the Compact on Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action and Action Coalition 6 on Feminist Movements and Leadership. Some of their members are involved in other ways in the Forum. For many of us, it has been challenging to keep track of developments and plans as the information provision has been limited and last-minute.
The upcoming Paris Forum aims to secure commitments from various stakeholders “to achieve immediate and irreversible progress towards gender equality”. As Catalytic Member of the Compact on Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action, W=MEN is invited to select one or more actions to commit to. They aim to discuss potential commitments to be made in this Generation Equality process to achieve women’s rights and gender equality for all.
When? Tuesday, 15 June 2021, 14:00 – 15:30 CEST

Although the Generation Equality Forum’s agenda is wider, this debriefing will primarily zoom into these four thematic areas:
We look forward to seeing you there.
