Sexual Health Myth Busting – The Sex Agenda x Home Girls Unite

Posted by Bukola Daike on May 19, 2021 at 11:29 am

Sexual Health Myth Busting is the first workshop in a series of The Sex Agenda – a series of FREE workshops taught by members of the Decolonising Contraception collective.

In collaboration with community organisation Home Girls Unite, this workshop will pick apart some of the most common sexual health myths, using questions raised by members of Home Girl’s Unite. This workshop will be facilitated by Community Sexual & Reproductive Health registrar Dr Annabel Sowemimo.

Ever wondered what “normal” vaginal discharge looks like? Why do some people struggle to orgasm? Or where do I go to get contraception? Well, we’ve got you covered. Think – sex education but for grownups. All the stuff we were never taught, but desperately need to know. Created using questions posed by Home Girls Unite.

The Sex Agenda

The Sex Agenda is a multi-media sexual education intervention by Decolonising Contraception (DC) raising awareness on sexual and reproductive health among Black and people of colour. Beginning as a podcast, The Sex Agenda expanded in 2021 to include the publication of a zine on sex and relationships (releases Autumn 2021) and a series of digital workshops in collaboration with community organisations.

The Sex Agenda workshops are a series of workshops taught by members of the Decolonising Contraception collective. All workshops in this series have been created in consultation with community groups and organisers who have told us what sexual and reproductive health topics they want to learn more about. Throughout the series Dr Annabel Sowemimo (Community Sexual & Reproductive Health doctor) will be joined by health experts and advocates to discuss a range of sexual and reproductive health topics.

Our events are aimed at those who feel the topics that they wish to discuss are not met by the mainstream, particularly focusing on race, gender and class barriers to accessing health services.
