Share-Net Netherlands are delighted to welcome our new intern Victory to the team! Victory has written an introduction which you can read below:

I’m Victory, I’m Master’s student in Global Health at Maastricht Univerisity and I am the new Share-Net Netherlands intern. I am orginally Nigerian but grew up in a small town in Ireland called Dundalk.

I have a BSc in Biomedical Sciences, in which I learned a lot about using a micro-level lens to observe macro-level health issues. During my Bachelor’s studies, I developed a keen interest in SRHR and the wider processes that affect the health and well-being of women and girls. As a result, I became involved with a student-led campaign to offer free sanitary products as part of a sector leading partnership pilot between my undergraduate univerisity and our student’s association. The campaign was a success and from this, I became inspired to lead as the Black & Minority Ethnic Liberation officer at my univeristy. Outside of university, I joined as a student ambassador for Fertility Network Scotland, and I spent some time volunteering in women’s clinics in India. From my experiences, I’ve developed a passion for change in line with the values that drive me — gender equality, a right to health, and seeing each person live to their full potential. As a result, fast forward three years, and amidst the throes of a global pandemic, I decided to pursue a Master’s in global health. I came across Share-Net through a friend at university and having joined on as a student member and joining a few communities of practices, I’m delighted to be able to use my skills to support the team!

For the next five months, I will be supporting the daily functioning of the Share-Net Netherlands communities of practice alongside contributing to other secretariat activities. I am excited to gain insight into the Dutch-based SRHR landscape, support collaboration, co-creation and knowledge generation within the CoPs, and learn from like-minded colleagues.

Outside of work and study, I enjoy making zines, writing, getting dressed up (now with nowhere to go) and listening to music.
