On September 3rd, about 35 people, including researchers, policy-makers, civil society organisations and practitioners, got together to talk about Universal Health Coverage (UHC). The meeting How to ensure that strategies for achieving Universal Health Coverage are inclusive and implemented?’ ,kicked off with a keynote speech by Denise Namburete, Executive Director of N’weti Health Communication. She shared some personal experiences and elaborated on the challenges she encounters with her lobby and advocacy work in the Mozambican context.
During the second part of the meeting, participants shared their thoughts, suggestions and policy recommendations during two rounds of discussions in a so-called World Café setting. There were six tables on the following topics: Health workforce, health finance, Quality of Care, Gender Equality, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and Accountability and the role of communities. The outcome of the meeting is a list of recommendations for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs representatives in the United Nations High-Level Meeting on UHC in September. You can read the recommendations called “27 things you need to do about UHC’s most important challenges”, below.
