On Thursday, 15th of July 2021, Share-Net hosted its first online abstract writing workshop to strengthen young researchers’ capacity in writing good scientific abstracts.
Billie de Haas (Assistant Professor Population Studies, University of Groningen) from Share-Net Netherlands and Assefa Seme Deresse (Associate Professor of Public Health and Reproductive Health, Addis Ababa University) from Share-Net Ethiopia facilitated the online learning session.
There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach: Every research project, every writing style, every journal that might print your paper is different and requires a certain format. Yet, bringing in a clear order and making sure that certain components are
recognisable can help you with writing a good academic abstract.
You can download the full report capturing the main learnings from the online workshop here.
It is also available in French and Spanish.
As suggested in the abstract writing workshop, Share-Net will facilitate another round of peer-review between two young researchers once you have developed your abstracts further. You can sign up for the peer-review here.
If you have any questions about the above, do not hesitate to reach out via email.
