It’s About the People: Tanzania’s VMMC Program Gets it Right, a film by award-winning documentary filmmaker Lisa Russell and narrated by Common in English and Fid Q in Kiswahili, documents USAID’s successful voluntary medical male circumcision program in Tanzania. Tanzania has demonstrated its commitment to assisting and driving down the incidence of HIV specifically as it affects voluntary medical male circumcision. The Tohara Program in Tanzania has shown that with strong leadership and commitment from the national government, the support of donors and implementers, and with the good-will of the people it is possible to scale up VMMC services and avert million of new HIV infections in sub-Saharan Africa.

This is the second documentary film produced by Russell to document USAID and PEPFAR’s investment in scaling up VMMC interventions to bring about an AIDS-free generation. The first film, In It to Save Lives can also be viewed online(link is external).”
