From Hubs to Bubs: Linking research, policy and practice. The international edition
About this meeting
The Linking research, policy and practice meeting traditionally brings together policymakers, practitioners and researchers working on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE) in international development. The focus lies on the work of young professionals who have recently submitted or are in the process of finishing research as part of a Master programme, postgraduate degree, research internship or research consultancy. In the past, the country hub of Share-Net Netherlands annually organised this meeting between young researchers and their members from Dutch universities, NGOs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The positive feedback of greater online accessibility to knowledge exchange and the aim to create a festive culmination of ten years LRPP results in the first international edition taking place on the 18th of November 2021, linking young researchers with Share-Net International (SNI) members from all country hubs (Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Colombia, Ethiopia, Jordan and the Netherlands), international members and the wider SRHR community.
The aim of the meeting is to:
• Disseminate young people’s knowledge on SRHR and GEWE
• Create a safe space for open dialogue, linking and learning between different SRHR actors
• Stimulate research-informed policy and practice, particularly in SNI country-hub contexts
• Identify further gaps in research, policy and practice
• Harvest networking opportunities between Share-Net members, young researchers, the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Embassies of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in SNI countries and the wider SRHR community
Call for abstracts
Share-Net Netherlands encourages Master and postgraduate students, research interns and young professionals who have recently finalised (or will finalise by the end of this year) their studies to submit an abstract! The selection committee will consider abstracts of applicants younger than 35 years old and will assess them in terms of justification, theoretical framework, methodology, innovation and relevance for research, policy and/or practice.
Participants in “Linking Research, Policy and Practice” get the chance to:
• Participate in two capacity building workshops (more information below)
• Present to and discuss their research findings and experiences with SRHR professionals working in research, policy or practice
• Share their CV and engage in online networking opportunities with Share-Net members to learn more about their organisations and potential future work opportunities
• Receive a certificate of participation in the above-mentioned activities
• Have their research findings translated into a creative knowledge product that can be freely used and disseminated hereinafter (see, for instance, the magazine from last year here)

• We strongly encourage young researchers to apply who conducted research on SRHR and GEWE in one of the SNI country hub contexts (Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Colombia, Ethiopia, Jordan and the Netherlands); submissions regarding global, comparative, non-country specific or other international study contexts are also welcome.
• Abstracts can be submitted in Arabic, Dutch, English, French or Spanish. Where necessary, during the conference there will be simultaneous translation in these languages available.
• Abstract submission deadline: Tuesday, 31st of August 2021
• Candidates will be notified by: Thursday, 14th of October 2021
