Capturing Adaptations to Family Planning Programming During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Research for Scalable Solutions

Shortly after COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, the Research for Scalable Solutions (R4S) project began systematically documenting adaptations across eight different programs in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe and India using a qualitative approach. The information and insights contained within this website relate to the different components of effective FP programs—social behavior change (SBC), service delivery, and enabling environment—and include specific High Impact Practices in Family Planning as well as other interventions such as self-care.

This effort documented how the programs operated, adapted and made decisions in a crisis situation.

These learnings can help inform how other FP programs may safely maintain services during and after the current pandemic, as well as how they can be more resilient in the face of future crises.
