On November 5th, Share-Net Netherlands organised a virtual meeting on Mental health and LGBTI. This meeting was hosted by the Share-Net Community of Practice (CoP) on LGBTI Health, aiming to improve the health and rights of LGBTI people and communities by strengthening the knowledge and capacities of professionals. The webinar was well attended by more than 70 Master students and representatives of the wider SRHR community.

Outcomes of the meeting

Objectives of the meeting were that by the end of the event, the participants would be:

  • able to better explain why LGBTI people around the world have a higher risk to experience poor mental health,
  • motivated to apply strategies that can work towards reducing this risk, and/or
  • triggered to look into knowledge gaps around mental health and LGBTI.

Have a look at the final slides of our mentimeter report from the meetings, to learn which knowledge gaps the participants identified as a result of this webinar. The report also includes participants’ reflections on what everyone themselves could do to improve the mental health of LBGTI people.

We would like to thank all participants for their active engagement in this event and hope that it inspired them to contribute to closing the knowledge gap around this topic. With questions about and/or interest in joining the Share-Net Netherlands community of practice on LGBTI health, you can reach out to CoP facilitator Hannah Kabelka at h.kabelka@kit.nl!
