May 17th marks The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. This day was created in 2004 to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexuals, transgender, intersex people (LGBTI) and all other people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics. To celebrate this day we have put together highlights of LGBTI+ victories which have happened thus far in 2020 and updated our resource section on LGBTI+ Health with some additional interesting reads on the Share-Net website.
While there has been progress made so far this year in achieving rights and equality for the LGBTI+ community, there still remains a huge amount of work to be done. Also in 2020, Share-Net Netherlands established a new Community of Practice on the topic of LGBTI Health. The CoP are looking for more enthusiastic members to join, if you are interested in joining this CoP, let us know directly!
